It was "Lights, camera, action, learning" as the Cleveland High School for Digital Arts went on location last week to video a cooking show at Cuyahoga Community College's Hospital Management Center on Public Square.
Digital Arts, new this school year, integrates core academics with the study of filmmaking, recording arts and game design. Launched in partnership with the Center for Arts-Inspired Learning, the school is part of CMSD's growing portfolio of educational options, designed to provide a fit for every student.
"Food Fight Revolution" was the idea of film teacher Jennifer Poland. Students helped area chefs whip up Revolutionary War-era fare in a cooking show competition that also taught lessons in history, science and social studies. A crew of 40 students worked on the production.
CMSD's school portfolio is a cornerstone of The Cleveland Plan, a customized blueprint for education reform.
