CMSD students who want help filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid will have a number of places to turn this weekend.
Completing the FAFSA is required for obtaining federal financial aid for college. Many colleges and universities also use the form to determine what a student will receive from the state.
Assistance will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Ignatius High School, 1911 W. 30th St., and from 10 a.m. to noon at the Cuyahoga County Public Library’s Brooklyn branch 4480 Ridge Rd., Brooklyn.
Filing a FAFSA requires obtaininig a personal identification number at www.pin.ed.gov
, as well as data from the students' and parent's 2013 tax returns (2012 if last year's are not available), the students' and parents' W2 forms, bank statements and asset statements.
The next day is College Goal Sunday, sponsored by the Ohio Tuition Trust Authority. Help with the FAFSA will be available at workshops, starting at 2 p.m., at the Cuyahoga County Public Library’s Warrensville branch, 4415 Northfield Rd., Warrensville Heights; Cuyahoga Community College’s Western Campus, 11000 Pleasant Valley Rd., Parma; the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center, 8001 Brecksville Rd., Brecksville; and Hondros College, 4100 Rockside Rd., Independence.

Students who participate in College Goal Sunday will need their IRS 1040 tax returns and W2 forms, their parents’ 1040 returns and W2 forms, their Social Security cards and driver’s licenses and other benefit and income information.
